So how many of you know that the original Star Trek series theme music had lyrics? How many had ever heard the lyrics? A voice teacher of mine used them in a class a few years ago as an amusing change of pace. The lyrics are reallllllyyyyyyyy bad -- and posted below.
What brings this up? The composer of the Trek theme music died, along with a director for many episodes of classic Trek. While looking up the lyrics for your amusement, I came across background on how those awful lyrics came about and the story isn't pretty. If you prefer to think of Gene Roddenbury in an idealistic fashion, don't read further.
